EARLALL highlights the role of regions and cities in the EAfA and Pact for Skills during webinar

On June 25 2024, EARLALL was invited to present during the webinar ‘Building synergies between the Pact for Skills and the European Alliance for Apprenticeships’, organised by the Pact for Skills support serviceEARLALL has been a member of the Pact for Skills and the European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA) since their inception, and was pleased to present the privileged role that regions and cities have in supporting apprenticeships, vocational and educational training and upskilling, through the two initiatives and other EU platforms collaboration.

Regions and local authorities as catalysts of change in apprenticeships, work-based learning and upskilling

During the panel inviting members of both the Pact and EAfA to share their experience, Charlotte Ede, EARLALL Communication and Project Officer, presented the network and the importance of regions and cities in supporting apprenticeships and reskilling and upskilling. EARLALL’s actions in upskilling and reskilling were highlighted, including the EU funded projects the network and its regions are participating in, such as TRAILS, LCAMP and SKYLA, which seek to tackle skills mismatches across sectors and regions.

Ms. Ede underlined eight benefits that regional and local authorities have in fostering apprenticeships and work-based learning: coordination and initiation of partnerships; funding and financial incentives; attractiveness and inclusion; strategy; outreach; support to SMEs; quality assurance and data analysis.

Miss Ede noted the engaged participation of all of its regions and local authority members in the initiatives, pointing to the Basque Country who first Regional Skills Partnership ksigune (active in the cultural and creative industries) during the webinar. KSIGUNE was presented by Ruth Mayoral López from Euskampus Fundazioa, who outlined the strong public-private cooperation in the Regional Skills Partnership and how the partnership helped to build their network. Moreover, thanks to the commitment from the Working Group on Mobility, led by Vastra Gotaland and Movetia, EARLALL will soon itself create a Regional Pact for Skills initiative on Mobility for Lifelong Learning.

Successful multi-platform cooperation

EARLALL presented its successful cooperation in the EAfA (with five webinars and attending two high level events), as well as its role as co-lead of the Community of Practice on the role of Regions and Cities in Fostering Apprenticeships. Moreover, EARLALL is a member of the Pact for Skills, in addition to the Harnessing Talent Platform’s Research and Innovation Working Group, and is an associate member of the Lifelong Learning Platform. The presentation highlighted the benefit of collaborating across networks and platform in lifelong learning allows for greater networking, mutual trust, inclusion, outreach and technical staff capacity-building.
