In an era where Europe’s growing skills gap is becoming increasingly evident, workforce mobility is crucial for addressing this challenge. Enhancing learning mobility for students and educators within vocational and educational training (VET) is now a priority for the European Union. To tackle these issues, the Pact for Skills Regional Skills Partnerships for Lifelong Learning Mobility (promoted by EARLALL) is at the forefront of this initiative, working to ensure that local and regional authorities can offer more learning opportunities, foster greater mobility, and address workforce challenges, including ageing populations and skill shortages.
The partnership recently welcomed two new members, the Catalonia Region from Spain and Camilla Winter AB, an educational consultancy from Sweden, adding further momentum to its mission of expanding lifelong learning mobility in VET and beyond.
Catalonia, one of Spain’s most dynamic regions, boasts an extensive network of more than 5,000 educational institutions, serving over 500,000 students. With this robust infrastructure, Catalonia is uniquely positioned to contribute to Europe’s efforts in enhancing mobility in vocational training. The region has long been committed to offering high-quality education and vocational training programs that are aligned with the needs of its economy. By joining the partnership, Catalonia aims to boost student and educator mobility, making it easier for VET learners and teachers to participate in cross-border learning experiences.
Catalonia’s involvement will provide an essential boost to the regional skills partnership, particularly through its focus on VET learners and apprenticeships. By integrating Catalonia’s expertise in creating inclusive educational opportunities, the partnership aims to promote mobility for learners with fewer opportunities, who are often underrepresented in these programs. The goal is to have 20% of VET learners engaged in learning mobility by 2030, with a significant portion of these opportunities reserved for underrepresented groups.
Another recent addition, Camilla Winter AB, a Sweden-based educational consultancy, brings specialized expertise in educational counseling, EU training courses, and workshops. Founded in April 2022 in Borås, in the Region Västra Götaland, Camilla Winter AB focuses on offering tailored solutions to educators and institutions to better integrate EU learning programs and facilitate teacher training on internationalization and mobility.
With Camilla Winter AB joining the partnership, there is a strong emphasis on building the capacity of educational institutions to navigate EU funding opportunities and create successful mobility programs. This consultancy will support local and regional authorities in identifying relevant VET mobility opportunities, improving their capacity for implementation, and ensuring a smooth transition for learners and educators participating in these programs.
Through its EU training and guidance workshops, Camilla Winter AB aims to contribute to the overall goal of improving the visibility and success rates of mobility projects across Europe, enhancing the lifelong learning ecosystem.
The integration of Catalonia and Camilla Winter AB brings fresh perspectives and resources to the partnership, further strengthening its ability to drive lifelong learning mobility. By focusing on building capacity, raising awareness, and providing practical tools, the partnership will foster a culture of lifelong learning that benefits learners, teachers, and local communities across Europe.
As the partnership continues to expand and evolve, its efforts will play a crucial role in addressing Europe’s skills gap, promoting workforce mobility, and ensuring that the EU remains competitive in a rapidly changing global landscape. Through the collaboration of local and regional authorities, educational institutions, and private consultancy firms, the future of vocational training and education in Europe looks more inclusive and accessible than ever.
