The Basque VET System, a Source of Inspiration for the European Commission

The Basque Deputy Minister for VET, Jorge Arévalo, along with Planning and Organisation leader Nicolás Sagarzazu, met in Brussels with European Commission’s DG EMPL Director for Employment, Manuela Geleng, and the Head of Unit for VET, Adult Learning and Apprenticeships, Dana-Carmen Bachmann. In the context of the soon-to-come initiative for European Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVE), the European Commission has a strong interest in capitalising on the results of the Basque VET system, and following up the development of the recently approved Basque VET law.
Mr. Arévalo pointed out that the most appreciated aspect of the Basque model by the European Commission is the fact that the whole VET system and all VET providers work hand in hand towards the same future to meet the challenges of Industry 4.0.
