International VET Campus #2022: European projects at the heart of the discussions

On 1 and 5 of July 2022, the Regional Ministry of Education of the Government of Catalonia organised the International VET Campus iQCampusFP#2022, with the support of EARLALL. The online event aimed at discussing European cooperation in Vocational Education and Training through the implementation of European projects, such as Centers of Vocational Excellence. Two online workshops were organised, on the topic of how to set up a Center of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) and on international cooperation projects. The iQCampusFP#2022 gathered more than 50 participants, mostly VET teachers, education experts and other stakeholders at regional, national and at European level.

The first session on “Setting up a CoVE” took place on 1 July 2022. Participants had the opportunity to learn more about CoVE projects at national and international level. Maria Pascual, Head of the International Projects Unit for VET, Department of Education of the government of Catalonia opened the meeting. Then, Andrew McCoshan, researcher and consultant in education & training, presented the Centers of Vocational Excellence initiative and how these Centres funded by the EU work in practice. A video of the European Commission on the information session on CoVEs 2022 that took place on 7 March 2022 indicating the  criteria for a successful application was shared with participants. Finally, Miriam Korstanje, project manager at Katapult network presented the Katapult CoVE match making map project as a tool to support CoVE initiatives.

The second part of the workshop, organised as a round table and moderated by Noelia Cantero, EARLALL Director, was dedicated to examples of successful CoVE projects. Gregorio Cañavate, International projects manager at CETEM (Innovation Centre for the Furniture industry), presented the Allview project, the alliance of centres of vocational excellence in the furniture and wood sector.  Then Òscar Palazón, Mobility coach at the VET Center INS Pere Martell, showcased the 3LoE: three level centres of professional excellence project. Liher Errasti González, Mobility coach in VET center INS Miguel Altuna, concluded the panel by presenting the EXAM 4.0: the excellent advanced manufacturing 4.0 project and the starting of its successor: LCAMP – Learner Centric Advanced Manufacturing Platform for CoVEs project.

The second session on “International Cooperation Projects” took place on 5 July 2022. The workshop presented two Erasmus+ programme actions related to international and cooperation projects for VET: partnership for cooperation and alliance for Innovation. Camilla Winter, Senior Advisor at Camilla Winter MB, opened the meeting. Yolanda Palacino, Project manager of European Education cooperation projects at the Spanish National Agency for the Erasmus+ programme (SEPIE), presented the Erasmus+ programme call: partnerships for cooperation in the VET sector. Then Jan van der Weijde, international relations coordinator at the ROC Friese Poort Sneek, introduced practical ways to begin international activities and successful examples of this cooperation. He was followed by Camilla Winter, who provided the audience with useful tips and tricks to participate in projects from the preparation phase and the building of the partnerships onwards. She also presented the EARLALL network and the advantages of joining a European Association. A video from the European Commission of an information session on the Erasmus+ call: Alliances for innovation, organized on 8 June 2021 was shared. After that, Anabel Menica, Politeknika Txorierri, and Stefano Antona, Apro Formazione showcased a good practice from the alliance for innovation call: the Erasmus+ project – Digital Transformation in Advanced Manufacturing.  The session ended with some networking tips to the participants.

Participants were very satisfied about the relevance and quality of the events which new edition will be organised in 2023.
