Lifelong Guidance & Ageing Societies

About

The Working Group on Lifelong Guidance and Ageing Societies is run by the Ministry for Education, Youth and Sports Baden-Württemberg, in cooperation with Borås Municipality and Camilla Winter AB. It works to respond to the four strategic priorities of EARLALL (2023-2028) through four areas of action: capacity building; responding to policy; outreach and cooperation and projects and project events. The Working Group for Ageing Societies and Lifelong Guidance is key in EARLALL’s collaboration with EPALE and work in the Gender Equality Task Force, as well as key EU projects.

The Working Group is helping to deliver the goals of the EARLALL Strategic Priorities (2023-2028) in the following ways:

Strategic Priority 1: Working towards skills for the future at the regional level, through innovation in lifelong learning           

The Working Group exchanges best practices on orientation and guidance in EARLALL’s regions. The Working Group leaders propose topics for discussion, for example, gender-sensitive orientation or digital guidance techniques.

Strategic Priority 2: Facilitating mobility and internationalisation across the EARLALL network and outreach          

The Working Group has a long history of providing high-quality exchanges of staff on matters related to guidance and ageing societies. The working group. Moreover, from the Working Group, many of EARLALL’s projects related to Guidance, mentoring and peer learning are developed, encouraging cross-border collaboration.

Strategic Priority 3: Supporting the resilience of lifelong learning structures in the face of demographic and societal changes  

The Working Group is focused partly on ageing societies and brings a focus to the changes in population that Europe is facing. In this light, it becomes even more important to harness the talent of the ageing population and to ensure that lifelong learning structures are targeted and inclusive.

Strategic Priority 4: Remaining at the forefront of policy development at the EU level              

In 2023-2024, the following are policy areas where the Working Group will be following up:

• The European Year of Skills
• The Committee of the Regions’ Opinion on Mentoring
• Guidance and gender in the regions
• The role of EU regions in lifelong learning and transferring this to Ukraine
